Portuguese and Brazilian companies involved in construction projects in Moxico province, Angola

[Notícia MacauHub] Construction of the concrete bridge over the Zambezi River, in the Alto Zambeze municipal area, is due to be finished in 2013, said the project’s inspector, Paulo Mitangi, speaking to Angolan news agency Angop.

The bridge, which will be 160 metres long and 14 metres wide, will replace the current metal bridge used as a provisional crossing for users of the road that links the municipal areas of Alto Zambeze and Luau.

After the bridge, which is being built by Portuguese construction company Conduril, is finished it will have two traffic lanes in each direction, as well as two pavements for pedestrians and be capable of holding up to 500 tons.

Mitangi added that levelling work and laying asphalt on the Luau/Cazombo road, which was started in June 2011 by Brazilian construction company Queirós Galvão, is moving ahead steadily.

“The contractor is continuing with work to clear and clean up the road, over a stretch of 260 kilometres, as well as rebuilding over 10 bridges,” said the works inspectors, noting that the project would take 36 months to finish.

The road, which will be 14 metres wide and have two lanes, has already been asphalted over 40 kilometres.
