ICS explica política latino-americana em curso de Verão

The Summer School on Latin American Politics is an initiative of the ECPR Standing Group on Latin American Politics, the aim of which is to improve the academic offer on Latin American politics to doctoral students of political science (broadly including government, politics and international relations). The project consists of three schools focusing on different topics. The first edition took place in 2011 at the University of Salamanca and dealt with Political Institutions and Actors: Comparative Approaches.

This second edition, to take place between June 28 and July 7, is devoted to The International Politics of Latin America. It is hosted by the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) of the University of Lisbon and focuses on topics such as cooperation and conflict in Inter-American relations, Latin America foreign policies, regional powers and organizations, comparative regional integration, new security challenges, inter-regionalism and cooperation for development, and the international dimensions of democratisation.

The third edition will deal with the outcomes of democratic regimes and will be hosted by GIGA in Hamburg in 2013. Each edition of the Summer School dedicates ten days to intensive seminars and workshops, aimed at providing theoretical and conceptual support for the development of doctoral research.
